Step 1

Your First Call or Callback Request

Call 0179 329 7084 or use the callback form on any page. Tell us what you have noticed — a leak, slipped tiles, a damp patch, guttering overflow, whatever the symptom. We do not need a diagnosis from you; that is our job. We ask for your address and a convenient time for a free survey. Emergency calls are triaged immediately — if you have an active leak or storm damage, we dispatch the nearest crew.

For non-urgent enquiries, we schedule the survey within a few working days at a time that suits you. Morning, afternoon or specific time slots — we work around your commitments.

Step 2

The Free Survey — What We Actually Look At

We inspect from the roof, not the ground. On Swindon's post-war estates — Penhill, Pinehurst, Park North, Covingham, Walcot, Eldene, Liden, Nythe — the first check is always nail sickness: we lift multiple tiles by hand to assess corrosion level in the fixings. We check the felt or membrane condition under the tiles. We inspect flashings, ridge mortar, valley linings, chimney stacks and guttering.

On 1930s stock in Moredon and Rodbourne, we check clay tile nib fractures, mortar bed condition and original bituminous felt integrity. On period properties in Old Town and the Railway Village, we assess slate fixing condition, lime mortar integrity and lead valley performance. On flat roofs across all estates, we check membrane condition, fall adequacy, upstand integrity and deck firmness.

We photograph everything. The survey typically takes 30-60 minutes depending on property size and roof complexity. We explain what we have found on site — what needs attention now, what can wait, and what is fine.

Step 3

The Written Quote — Every Cost Itemised

Within 24-48 hours of the survey, you receive a written quote. It itemises every component: materials (type, quantity, specification), labour, scaffold (if needed), waste removal, Building Regulations notification (if applicable), and our 10-year guarantee. There are no lump-sum quotes and no hidden extras. You can see exactly what you are paying for and why.

If the job requires specialist materials — reclaimed Welsh slate for the Railway Village, specific tile profiles for a discontinued range — we source them before quoting so the price is firm, not estimated. We also note anything we found during the survey that does not need immediate attention but should be monitored — honest advice that saves you money.

Step 4

Scheduling and Preparation

When you accept the quote, we book a start date. We confirm one week before and again the day before. For jobs requiring scaffold, we arrange erection the day before the work starts. Pavement scaffold and skip permits go through Swindon Borough Council; we handle this entirely. On restricted streets in Old Town, the Railway Village and parts of Rodbourne, we coordinate access to minimise disruption.

You do not need to clear your loft, move your car or take time off work for external roof work. We need perimeter access and a power supply — that is all. We agree everything during the survey so there are no surprises on the day.

Step 5

The Work

Our own employed team handles every project — we never subcontract. Working hours are typically 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We sheet below the work area to catch debris. We keep the site tidy throughout the day. If the job spans multiple days, the roof is secured and weathertight at the end of every working day — we never leave a roof exposed overnight.

If we discover anything unexpected during the work — rotten rafter feet hidden under old tiles, for example — we contact you immediately, explain the finding, and agree the additional work and cost before proceeding. No surprises on the invoice.

Step 6

Cleanup, Sign-Off and Your Guarantee

When the work is complete, we clean the site thoroughly. All waste, old tiles, offcuts and packaging are removed. Skip hire is included in re-roof and larger project quotes. We walk you through the completed work, explain what was done and show you the result.

You receive your written 10-year workmanship guarantee, covering all labour, fixings and installation methods. Materials carry separate manufacturer warranties on top. Building Control certificates (for re-roofs) are arranged and sent to you. We invoice on completion — you inspect the work first, then pay. No deposits, no payment before completion.

If anything covered by the guarantee needs attention at any point in the 10 years, call us. We come back and put it right. No quibbling, no re-charge.

Worked Example

A Penhill Semi Re-Roof — Start to Finish

Mrs P called about tiles slipping in every storm. Survey: 1962 semi on Penhill Drive, concrete Marley Ludlow Plus tiles, nail sickness advanced across both slopes, two rotten rafter feet. Quote: £5,200 — itemised across scaffold, strip, membrane, battens, tiles (new Ludlow Plus on stainless nails), lead flashings, ridge re-bed, two rafter feet, skip, Building Control, guarantee. Accepted Thursday, scaffold Monday, work Tuesday–Friday, cleanup and sign-off Friday afternoon. Invoice paid the following week. Guarantee issued. Total disruption: four working days of external noise. Mrs P did not take a day off work.

NFRC consumer guidance recommends written, itemised quotes from NFRC-registered contractors as the primary safeguard against poor workmanship and unexpected costs. "A reputable roofer will always provide a written specification before work begins" (NFRC Homeowner Guide).

FAQ

Common Questions About Our Process

Not for external roof work. We need access to the property perimeter and a power supply if using electric tools. We agree access arrangements during the survey. For loft inspections or internal work, we coordinate a time that suits you.

You receive the written quote within 24-48 hours of the survey. Complex jobs requiring material sourcing or specialist specification may take 3-5 days. We explain at the survey if this applies.

No. We never ask for deposits or upfront payment on any job. We invoice on completion only, after you have inspected and approved the finished work. This protects you completely.

We never leave a roof exposed. If rain interrupts mid-job, we install temporary weatherproofing the same day. Work resumes at the next suitable weather window. We build weather margin into every schedule.

Yes. Our quotes are valid for 30 days with no obligation. If you accept and then need to delay or cancel before work starts, there is no charge. Once materials are ordered for your specific job, we ask for reasonable notice.

Yes. Full site cleanup is included on every job. We remove all waste, old tiles and materials. Skip hire is included in re-roof quotes. We leave your property as we found it — minus the roofing problem.
